In the classical period of Ancient Greece, lyrical poetry was accompanied by a stringed instrument. The lyric poet does not tell a narrative story instead addresses the reader directly and focuses intensely on a subject portraying his or her own feelings to evoke emotions within the listener. Through certain poetical devices the lyrical poet will illuminate something profound about life. Lyrical poetry has evolved overtime especially with the phase out of the Lyre, or musical instrument; Nonetheless, has paved the way for modern poetry which basically eliminated many rules of poetry in captivating the modern reader of the information era with plenty of suspense, imagery and emotion.
