A cigar has many complexities and an experienced cigar smoker is aware of all the different flavors a cigar can contain because each cigar changes taste as it is actively smoked. It is said that a cigar has a beginning, a middle, and an end leaving a different or distinct aftertaste with each puff. Eating different foods and drinking spirits can enhance and contribute to the flavor as well. This is why cigars are said to stimulate the senses. Most experienced cigar smokers will smoke in the morning and at night and usually prefer a full-bodied cigar after a heavy meal and a lighter cigar in the morning. Then again, cigars being a matter of preference could depend on the smokers mood. However, when it comes to getting the most from cigar smoking one must take into account their taste buds which can be affected by drinks and food, so it should be recommended to smoke and drink after a meal for this reason. Unless you want to experiment. In my case, I like to drink before or during I smoke because it adds complex flavors to the cigar, and smoke after I eat to just enjoy the original taste of the cigar.(photo by Reky7)
