Montecristo Cigars

Montecristo Cigar Brand
Montecristo Cigars started in 1935 in Cuba by Alonzo Mendez and Pepe Garcia. Shortly after the Castro take over these families moved to the Canary islands. Film director Alfred Hitchcock sent these cigars back to friends in England because World War II interrupted the flow of Havanas to Britain, so the brand concentrated in the United States mainly  through Dunhill stores. When the Mendenz family arrived in the Canary islands they started the MonteCruz made with Dominican and Brazilian  fillers and a Cameroon wrapper. (Cigar Companion Pg. 148)
