The Avo Cigar Brand was named after Avo Uvezian a musician. He played piano in Puerto Rico at the Palmas Del Mar Resort. His decision to get into the cigar industry was based on being charged $20 dollars a piece in 1983 for a cigar when he went to Switzerland for his daughter's christening. From there he traveled to the Dominican Republic and met Hendrick Kelner. They created the Avo brand and was released in 1987. In 1995 Davidoff paid Avo $10 million for distribution rights to the Avocigar brand. This cigar was an instant success! The other sub-brands are Avo 77, XO series, Avo Pyriamid. (photo by Jubiku)
