The moon has fascinated human kind since ancient times, and many cultures revered and honored the moon. For example, "lunacy" is derived from luna which means moon in spanish is also the Roman Moon goddess. It is said that when a person is affected by romantic sentiment they have been "moonstrucked" possessed by the spirit of Luna. Artemis is the Moon goddess for the Greeks, the twin sister of Apollo the Sun God. It's no incident that the moon is considered feminine because of the time period of 29-1/2 days to complete the lunar cycle as in the menstruation cycle of the women. The moon marks the passage of time hence the term "many moons ago". The moon has four major phases that expresses different energies like a beginning, a middle, and an end then it repeats the cycle again just like life here on earth. (photo by poesangel)
